Variations
The systematic presentation of a theme in different guises. The theme of a set of variations can be anything from a little motif to an elaborate paragraph, a harmonic pattern, or a rhythmic figure. The monumental examples of the music in variation form are JS Bach's Goldberg variations, Beethoven's Diabelli Variations and C. Franck's Symphonic Variations.
